Lance knew Everly was in on it, her face when he called her Ursula was enough evidence but Jinoras confession was the icing on the cake, he wouldn't know who Captain is and he doubt she would tell him. "It's not my place to tell," he told her though his face was never the laughing or joking face he usualy had. It was serious the entire time.

Jinora looked back into his eyes and nodded. "I'm sorry Lance." She whispered softly. "I'm sorry for everything."

Jinora frowned, opening her mouth to question him when her eyes flickered to the door. When she recognized the skinny woman who was standing there with her eyes narrowed into slits. Jinora went pale and started to edge back on her bed, drawing her knees up to her chest.
"M-mom?" She whispered fearfully as the emaciated woman with stringy black hair walked towards the bed. Despite her blemished skin and unhealthy look about her the woman looked almost exactly like Jinora, except for the face that she was shorter and had hazy green eyes. She wore black jeans, high heels, and a red tank top with large sunglasses pushed up on her head.

Lance didn't know someone had walked into the door, he just watched as Jinora went from normal to pale and scared. When she whispered the word 'mom', Lance turned around to see a disturbing version of Jinora. He stiffened himself, realizing this was the person who caused the pain to Jinora.

Her mothers lips pressed into a thin line as she looked her daughter over. "You idiot." She said slowly as she approached the bed side, opposite of Lance. "What are you doing? Crying out for attention again? Enough is enough, you're costing us way too much money. You're lucky I made Steve wait in the car instead of coming up here. He was ready to beat your pathetic ass the second we got the call about your suicide attempt. Are you trying to put us in more debt you bitch?"
Jinora flinched at Heidi's harsh words and kept her eyes down. "I-I have insurance through the school Mom, they'll pay for this."
"Shut up!" Heidi snapped, raising a hand to slap Jinora, but never swung, just let it hover in mid air as Jinora flinched back. "Ever sine you were born you've been a pain in my ass, you should have died you waste of space!"

the moment Jinora's mom opened her mouth he knew he wanted to do nothing more than to remove her from the room, he watched as Jinora shrunk away from her as if her mom was going to hit her.
When her own mom said she should have died anyways he grabbed the hand she was about to slap Jinora with. "Ma'am. If you do not leave right now, I will take you out myself." He said, his eyes darkening over and his grip on the woman's arm tightened. "You do NOT treat you're own daughter this way," He added squeezing her arm even harder, wanting to break every bone he felt in it.

Heidi looked at Lance in disgust. "Unhand me you idiot." She pulled her hand from his grip and marched over to her. "You watch your mouth when you speak to me, you heathen. She has you wrapped around her nasty little finger. You better run if you know what's good for you." She raised her hand yet again.
Jinora watched this exchange, but as soon as she saw her mom raise her hand at Lance, anger raised up inside her. "Don't you dare hurt him!" She said suddenly and climbed out of her bed, wedging herself between the two.
For a moment her mother was startled at her daughters sudden courage, but then her sneer returned. She lowered her hand but kept her eyes flickering between Jinora and Lance. "Get out of the way Jinora." She ordered.
"No!" Jinora snapped, backing up against Lance's chest. "I will not let you lay a hand on him." She said, her voice quaking with fear but her eyes held determination.

Lance was surprised the little woman could pull away from his grip, not many of his teammates who were bigger than she was could. He backed away a little bit, but he didn't show any fear in his face. He wasn't sure why he was brave all of the sudden, he wasn't going to let her do this to her daughter anymore though.
He was ready for her to hit him and when Jinora stepped between them he was sure Heidi would hit her. He placed an arm protectively around Jinora, hoping a nurse would hear from the hallway and come rushing in. He could only hope. "Why don't you leave." He said, pushing Jinora as close to him as he could. He wasn't going to let go of her till her mother left and even then he wasn't sure he could let go for a few hours.

Heidi's flashed, a dangerous light flickering in her eyes. "This isn't over." She threatened in a low voice as a nurse peered into the room. Heidi stared into Jinora's eyes. "Fucking waste if space." She said in a low growl then suddenly turned on her heel and stormed out of the room, shoving the nurse out of her way.
Jinora stared after her mother and once she was gone, her whole body started to tremble as she tried to fight back the tears.

Lance watched the woman threaten both of them, he wasn't going to let her scare him at all. She seriously needed to get out of Jinora's life, no wonder she was messed up. The moment Heidi left he could feel Jinora tremble, he wrapped his other arm around her and held her tightly as the nurse walked in, looking pissed off for being pushed out of the way.
"Is everything alright in here?" The nurse asked wondering if she should notify the police.

Jinora rubbed at her eyes and bit her lip. "W-we're okay." She said softly, wishing she could ask to never have her mom let in again, but knew that would only make things worse. "I'm sorry for her attitude, she doesn't do well with other people...she must have forgotten her medication today." Her voice faltered on the word 'medication' almost as if wanting everyone to know that it was a lie.

Lance nodded to the nurse who stood there a minute before leaving. He didn't let go of Jinora, didn't say anything for awhile. He just continued to breath and made sure she was breathing.
"Are you okay?" He asked, finally breaking the silence.

Jinora stayed quiet for a little bit when he asked her if she was okay. At that moment, she had no idea what okay meant. She felt a rush of all different emotions at once, making her want to fall to the ground and curl up in a ball-which most likely would have happened if it hadn't been for Lance.
"I...don't know." She answered truthfully.

Lance waited for her to respond, knowing this would take time. It wasn't easy for her, with what just happened. When she did respond he tightened his grip around her, resting his chin on the top of her head, "That's okay," He whispered as he rocked her from side to side slowly. "When you do feel okay, I'll let go."

"What if I never want you to let go?" Jinora whispered softly, deciding to finally stop ignoring her feelings. Somehow she had fallen for Lance and she was done running from those feelings.

"Then I wont," Lance said meaning mentally and not physically. He would have to eventually let go of her sometime, but he didn't have to right now. "Lets rephrase the question," He said, deciding this would be better. "When your legs are about to give away, let me know."

Jinora kept her eyes down, starting her stomach contents start to pitch and roll. "You should probably let go of me now then." She said quickly, feeling like she was going to vomit due to all of her stress. She pushed out of Lance's arms and ran into the bathroom, making it just in time to empty her stomach contents into the porcelain bowl.
