Emanuel sat in the back of the coffee shop, scrolling on his laptop. He had heard about the shark tank and all the grief people have been giving eachother, so he decided to log on and see what it was all about. What were the odds that in his short time in the school, someone would notice him and know enough about him to post?
He clicked on the Hot Or Not entry for the Junior class, not actually expecting his name to come up. To his surprise, he was listed.
"Emanuel Shalev- So adorable! Do you not love that curly hair and those soulful eyes? Plus this guy is super smart. He's basically in ever AP class our school has to offer, the only downside to him is that he has really weird tendencies. I watched him one time in class and he had to zip an unzip his back pack five times after he had pulled out a pencil. Nothing was wrong with the backpack, so maybe he has some really bad OCD? Either way, he's a total hotty."
He blinked a few times while reading the entry, and sighed.
"טוב, לפחות אני חם" ("At least I'm hot.")
He muttered to noone in particular, staring down at his coffee cup, which was covered by a napkin to keep the germs out of it. So this person was in one of his classes. They were observant enough to know that he was zipping the backpack, but not observant enough to know that he does things in even increments. Though he hardly ever took interest in what anonymous bloggers thought about him, he felt pretty defeated, as people already knew about his condition at this point.
He noticed the shop getting pretty full, and seats were filling up. He moved his laptop closer to him so that if someone needed somewhere to sit, they could share the table.

It took fifteen minutes for Shannon to receive her coffee and she wasn't happy about it. She snatched the coffee from the barista and sneered at her. She knew she wouldn't return to this coffee place now, they would for sure spit in her coffee now. She woke up the day on the wrong side of the bed, it was a bad idea for her to check her phone, the Shark Tank would regret what they said about her. Shannon searched the coffee shop, looking for an open seat. She spotted one by some curly haired weirdo and decided it was better than standing.
"Is this seat taken?" She asked as politely as possible. She wasn't in the mood to be completely nice, but she knew manners were important to get a seat in a crowded place.

"No, go ahead." he said, made sure half the table was clear for her and took a sip of his coffee before quickly putting the napkin back over the top of it. He was feeling self conscious, but tried his best not to let it show. He glanced at her quickly enough to determine how he should behave around her. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to try and make conversation. He looked back down at his laptop, staring at that blog entry.

Shannon smiled as sweetly as possible as she took a seat across the table from him and cleared her throat. "Thanks," she said through gritted teeth, she put her purse on the floor and dug through it, finding her copy of Game of Thrones; A Feast for Crows and opened it to her last saved spot, excited to continue reading about all her favorite characters, if they were still alive.

Emanuel decided that getting bent out of shape over a blog wasn't in his best interest, so he logged onto one of his online classes. College economics seemed like something engaging enough to take his mind off of things for a while.

Shannon took a sip of her coffee, deep into the worlds of Kings Landing and Winterfell when her phone rang. She stole a peek at it before moving to grab it. The moment she looked at what caused the ring, a text, she cursed under her breath. "Son of a bitch," She said wondering why this blog thing was bothering her. "Stupid Shark Tank," She muttered as she turned her phone off so she could enjoy the day without being reminded of what an 'ugly' personality she had.

"Yeah. I hate that stupid site" he mumbled, irked at the fact that he had just previously gotten his mind off of it.

Shannon heard the guy in front if her speak. "So you''re a 'victim' too?" She Said adding air quotes around the word victim. This was the second attack but not the worse. It was everyone's comments about how they agreed with the shark tank, Shannon wondered if she should just accept her ugly personality.

"Yeah. It is such bullshit" he remarked, He noticed that as a whole, people in America seemed a bit distant, but this blatant meanness was something he was deeply disturbed by. How could people be so filled with hate? He sighed and glanced up at Shannon. "I just don't get it. Why can't people just keep quiet if they're so full of hate like that?"

Shannon gave a fake smile, she used to be like one of those people. But she did it to their faces instead of through the computer. "Yea, they don't have the balls to tell me to my face," she chuckled looking around her at the fellow coffee goers. "If they had a probably with me, I'd much rather they come to my face." She said wondering how many more people were agreeing her personality was ugly at this second.

"You would like it in Israel, then" he said simply. "Everyone speaks their mind. There is hardly any....augh what is it." he thought about the term he was looking for "Passive aggression?" He shrugged "That kind of thing is seen as cowardly where I'm from"

"Well if that's true then yes I would like it there," Shannon said, though she knew there were other reasons why she wouldn't go. "It is cowardly." She added, hearing a bit of her father in her.

Emanuel nodded as he noticed the napkin fall off his coffee cup. He pushed the cup over against the wall, making a mental note not to drink from it. He thought for a moment "I only know about two people in the entire school, and I do not really think that they would post this. So whoever runs this blog is someone who is both in one of my classes and who does not know me. Yet they criti.... uh. Cr-i-ti-ci-ze me like that" he said, tripping on his own words. "Sorry, my spoken English is not so good. I can stop talking now." he said, embarassed

"I don't know many people either, and yet this person does," Shannon said narrowing her eyes at anyone who passed by them. She began to think they were little spies all over, they could be listening right now. "I know the two wouldn't post this either, at least I hope they wouldn't" She knew Matt was way too sweet for this and Reagan was more into herself than worry about others gossip. She tried to understand what he was attempting to say, which she was glad he finally figured it out. "It's fine," She said more for the not being able to speak English well.

"Right" he muttered quietly before shrugging. He looked back down at his schoolwork, before realizing that he needed a financial calculator to get it done in reasonable time. He leaned down towards his backpack, and before he unzipped it, he determined that the zipping and unzipping would probably bee distracting and he would draw attention to himself. It wasn't worth it. He decided to do the work out in his head, which always took a bit longer.

Shannon watched him carefully, noticing he decided not to grab whatever he needed from his backpack. "I take it, whatever the Shark Tank said about you, was dealing with your backpack?" She asked, holding the place in her book with her finger.

"Uh, yeah. It was." Emanuel said, uncomfortably. He had no idea that Shannon was even watching him. He clenched his jaw in frustration at the fact that so many people already knew this quickly. He sighed and shook his head "I really, really hate that blog"

Shannon chuckled. "Trust me, there's worse things than OCD," she said. She was one to talk, she was pretty sure the second a doctor talked to her about her day they would label her with OCD immediately. "And at least your not being called a whore with an ugly personality," she added rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, that is true" he said softly, though he felt like OCD was a curse, and that he hadn't experienced anything worse personally. "And not being a whore is also a bonus" Emanuel chuckled. He stared at the Economics graph on his computer as he did the math in his head quickly.

Shannon nodded and turned back to her book, wondering what a strange world it was to start up a conversation with a stranger. She sipped her coffee and once again entered the world of fantasy, hoping no disturbances would occur.
