Emanuel looked over his assignment, and then up at the coffee shop. He noticed a few people from his P.E. class staring at him. He could tell by the way they looked away the second he looked up, and their hands were over their mouths while they whispered. He looked down, and glanced up again. They were definitely pointing and talking about him. He had a feeling that everyone had read the blog entry by now, and he got very uncomfortable. He closed his laptop, picked up his bag and slinked off without a word, unaware that he was leaving his phone on the table. He opened the door with his sleeve over his hand and ran out of the coffee shop, back towards campus. His chest felt tight, and he knew it was only a matter of time before he would get a full-blown panic attack. He got to one of the benches outside the residential buildings and sat down, trying to steady his breathing. He felt self conscious and vulnerable. 'Maybe coming to this school was a bad idea.' he thought.

Shannon watched out of the corner of her eyes as her table mate began to feel uncomfortable, though she didn't know why. She turned her full attention back to her book, Daenerys was about to unleash her dragons and she didn't want to lose concentration and miss out on something. A page later, he got up quickly leaving in a rush. She couldn't guess why but she put her book down and frowned. He had left his phone, what an idiot. She groaned, finished off her coffee and grabbed his phone as she grabbed her own things and followed after him. "Hey!" She called out, realizing she didn't know his name.

Emanuel was already too far away to hear at that point, and when he got to the campus bench, he checked to make sure he was alone. He closed his eyes and counted, in a barely audible whisper "eh'ad, shnyim, shlosha, arba'a, h'amisha, shisha, shiv'a, shmona, tish'a, assara" No, he didn't count right that time "eh'ad, shnyim...." No, he didn't do it right "eh'ad, shnyim,shlosha.... arba'a" Better start over and count again. His breaths were shaky, and he kept getting stuck. "eh'ad, shnyim...." Why were they staring at him? "eh'ad, shnyim...." What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he just be normal?

Shannon wasn't able to keep up with him, she was wearing heels and there was no way she was going to break a sweat and have a blister on the same day. She slowed to a walk towards campus and looked down at his phone, wondering how she was going to return this. She sighed and rolled her eyes, she guessed she would have to find him in the boys dorm, though she again didn't know his name.
As she headed towards the school she paused at the bench, recognizing the curly hair and the top he had been wearing. "Hey you!" She called out, walking closer to him.

Emanuel didn't want to open his eyes. He was already humiliated enough, and wondered what this stranger could possibly want. He stopped counting on a "safe" number and looked up. "I...um" he didn't know how to respond. He felt awkward and incompetent.

Shannon raised an eyebrow at him wondering what got to him. "Hi," She said crossing her arms over her chest. "You forgot something at the coffee shop," She said holding out his phone to him. She wondered what scared him off in the first place though she wasn't going to ask him and she was sure he wasn't going to offer the information up freely.

Emanuel sheepishly took the phone. "Thank you" he said, his voice cracking. He wondered how freakish he seemed to the girl, who was giving him a curious look that could also be perceived as concerned. He couldn't tell. "I'm sorry...." he whispered, resenting himself.

Shannon rolled her eyes. "Why are you sorry? So you left your phone," She said shrugging, she didn't feel like he should apologize for forgetting his phone.

"Not for the phone....well.... yes, for the phone. But really because I'm a freak" he muttered, his gaze fixed at the ground. He felt like an inconvenience. His presence seemed burdensome and pathetic to himself. "I....really. I won't bother you anymore. I'm sorry"

"You're not a freak," Shannon said crossing her arms again. "Please, if having OCD means you're a freak, then guess what so am I." She said shaking her head. She knew she wasn't one and she knew he wasn't, they just had a wire that didn't connect somewhere. Besides she wasn't as bad as other people with OCD, she had very little rituals she needed to follow.

"I am sorry. I had no idea." he said, staring down at the ground. "I am still getting used to living in school." he said, thinking about how he had to be around people his age constantly. The immaturity and need for drama most of them had made him exhausted and stressed. "I just....There were some kids in the coffee shop who were pointing and laughing at me."

Shannon nodded her heads. She had seen the kids before leaving and wondered what they were laughing about. "Don't worry, I am getting the same reaction," She said putting her hands in her pocket as she leaned against a post. Normally she was fine with making fun of kids, but after her mothers threats and the way her parents abandoned her, she decided it wasn't worth it anymore.
