Ricky was lying down on a bench outside of Jefferson hall with his headphones in. His long hair was sprawled out and his hands were covering his face to block out the sun. His drumsticks were strapped under his belt on the side of his hip. He stayed like this for a good while, before he grabbed the drumsticks and started rhythmically hitting the air above him with them.

Above him laying in the tree was a brunette in a David Bowie muscle top and red velvet shorts with pink laceup boots with little smiley faces on them. Her iPhone was snug in her pocket as it transferred rock hits from Pandora to her Pokeball headphones. She was drumming on her lap to every song that randomly came up. Everything was going fine when she felt like her ears were nearly being ripped off. Her damn phone skydived out her pocket and now she had to go get it.
It landed between Rickys legs. Alice rolled to her stomach of the branch with her headphones still in.

Ricky jumped when he felt the phone hit the bench. He rolled off the bench, put his headphones around his neck and stood up before grabbing the phone and looking around. "What in god's name just happened?" he asked as he looked around. The only person he saw was a girl who he SWORE wasn't there two seconds ago. "Is this yours?"

"I'm sorry." she tried not to snicker as she peered down. "It likes to do that." She felt bad now. Alice didn't hear him come and sit on the bench since her music was so loud and she was distracted by the internet. The look on her face read, 'Please don't kill me'. She used one arm to reach for the phone and the other to secure her drum sticks.

"Hey, no worries." he said as he rammed his drumsticks under his belt with his free hand. "It didn't hit me in the crotch, and your phone isn't cracked. So we both seem to be fine" he laughed and ran his fingers through his hair to get it out of his face.

Alice retrieved the phone. "Thanks. I hate it when it does that." She could easily afford a new one, but what was the point of that? Alice saw his drumsticks in his belt. "Heyyyyyy, you play too!" She pulled out hers and held them like chop sticks. "How come you're not in band class?"

He glanced down at his drumsticks and then up to Alice's "I just transferred to this school, actually." he said and smiled. "I start on Monday....my name is Ricky, by the way." he said and extended a hand towards Alice.

"Like Alice in Chains" he smiled as he shook her hand. "You're into derby? Thats so cool!" he said, impressed. "I had a few friends who did that. Its like, the most badass thing I've ever heard of."

More like Alice in Wonderland. Afterall, that's who her parents named her after. "Yeah, I play for the Santa Cruz junior league. Been playing since I was seven. But I'm into a lot of stuff." she said with pride. "Which of your friends have done that?" She might have known them.

"Actually, they live in New York. Rochester league" he said. "You said you're into a lot of stuff? What does that entail?" he asked "I don't mean to pry, I'm just curious and I've interacted with like, noone in this place."

She lifted her fingers. "Drumming, derby, cosplay, ghost hunting, mermaid swimming and gaming. I'm a little YouTube famous actually." She added. Alice was proud of all the things she could do at her age. "I make gaming videos, costume tutorials sometimes, and sometimes I cover songs."

"Damn. All I do is drum and do some volunteer work" he said. "I also play video games, but not very often. My dad always said they were a waste of time, but whatever."

Alice rolled off the branch, standing on the bench, then letting go of it. "So does mine, but so what?" He was still learning to accept her choice of sport. The bruise she got on her hip from a recent practice was getting smaller. Maybe Ricky would like to come to open skate sometime or skip the masquerade to watch the bout. "So Ricky, where is you from?"

"Tarrytown New York originally. I moved to California about a year ago." he said and wondered if he should go on and explain his Catholic school fiasco to this complete stranger. "What about you?"

"LA." she told him. "I go to Japan almost every summer. My parents are both in Europe for like forever so I'm here." she shrugged. "But hey, I'm not freezing my ass off in Paris right now." Being in California made her incapible of adapting to a New York like environment. She couldn't stand the cold.

"Did your old school have a gossip blog that talked shit about everyone? Did someone commit suicide at your school?" she asked. "Yeah, it happened. Guy just killed himself because his girlfriend killed herself. He even blogged about it before he did it. Pretty messed up."
