Payton had just gotten out of her history class and was now going to her lunch break. She had brought some of her books with her so she would be able to get some work done. She always had some work that had to be done, she felt as if there wasn't any time for any of it anymore. She was wearing a pair of skinny jeans that were beginning to fade, and a v-neck t-shirt that was purple. Her hair was lightly curled, and she wore little to no make up that day. She had on her tray a water bottle, some fruit, and a sandwich, turkey and cheese her favorite. Setting the tray down at a table where no one was sitting at where she would be able to get some work done as she ate, taking a seat taking a few bites of her sandwich opening her history book and started writing down some notes.

Gale finally got through the line for lunch, he couldn't believe how long it took just get a cheeseburger these days. He looked around the cafeteria, seeing no one he recognized, though he knew already he always ate lunch alone. He spotted a table not to far with a lone girl, a book opened next to her and he hoped she wouldn't mind someone sitting at the other end. He moved towards her, making his way through the crowd until he reached the table. "Hi there," He said, his Russian accent pushing through despite his many teachers trying to suppress it. "Do you mind if I sit?" He asked.

Payton glanced up from her history book to see Gale standing before her, not remembering if she's seen him around before. It wouldn't hurt if he sat here, though it might be a bit awkward. "Yeah go ahead." she said gesturing towards the empty chairs across from her giving him a small smile. Picking up a few pieces of fruit with her fork looking back down to her book.

Gale smiled and nodded and took a seat across from her, mouth watering from the cheeseburger and french fries he couldn't wait to devour. He took a giant bite into his cheeseburger and took a glance around him at the people sitting at the nearby tables. Everyone seemed engrossed in their own conversation and Gale began feeling alone again, lately he had been feeling alone a lot. He turned his attention back to the girl at his own table, she was nose deep in whatever text book she had opened, her turkey sandwich in her free hand. "Wh-a cla-s are u st--- fo--?" He asked with a mouth full of french fries and ketchup, this made his accent even harder to understand

Payton took another bite drinking some water as she looked up to him and couldn't help but let out a small laugh. She knew he was Russian from the accent she heard when he asked to sit with her and now just sounds loads of gibberish. Surprisingly she understood what he said, kind of. "History..." she said as she studying him for a moment as he ate. "I'm Payton by the way...I don't think I've seen you around before." he said giving him a small smile.

"Sorry," He apologized, knowing his mother would scold him for speaking with his mouth opened. "Gale, " he said as he took another bite of his cheese burger. He properly chewed the entire bite before speaking. "Yeah I just started my senior year here. My.. Family and I move a lot," He said feeling a couple of eyes on him. He knew where they were coming from and he knew not to look in that direction. "What about you?" he asked.

"Nice to meet you Gale." Payton said with a small smile pushing some hair behind her ear. "Oh...well that's cool I guess. You're only stuck here for one year rather than four." she said with a small laugh. "I'm a Junior. But I take mostly Senior classes." she told him taking a sip of her water. "I think we might have a class together but I can't remember for sure." he told him.

Gale nodded, finishing his bite before speaking. "I think we do, the back of you head looks familiar," He teased as the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. He continued to smile and eat like nothing was unusual in his world. "Is it English? Or a math class?" He asked trying to remember at what time he normally looked up and saw the blood sitting three rows in front of him.

"Oh..?" Payton said with a small laugh, "I didn't know people could memorize what the back of my head looks like." she said as she thought for a moment. "I think it might be English." she said nodding. "Yeah defiantly English I remember our teacher giving you a hard time about pronouncing stuff at times." she said taking another bite of her sandwich.

Gale slowly nodded, remembering seeing the profile of her face, and everyone else's as they turned to stare at the foreigner. "Yeah, he doesn't like my accent, and I have been trying to fix it." He said knowing his parents tried as well. It was more for his safety than for people to understand him.

"I don't know why, I kinda like your accent it's...different. You hear the usual Southern, British, New York, Boston and like everything else around her but I don't hear Russian very often." she told him looking back down deciding to close her book, that she would be able to study later. "I wish I had some cool accent, but I'm from California so I'm nothing too special." she told him.

"Well, thank you," Gale said in Russian then corrected himself as he took the final bit of his cheeseburger. "Well, you do have an accent. At least to me you do." He said knowing everyone had a different way of speaking even if you came from the same town or state.

"Well yeah to you I have an accent, but I feel like mind is just bland. I think it would be cool to learn like French or something." Payton told him taking the last bits of her fruit eating them, and then took a sip of her water. "Is Russia always like cold there?" she asked him tilting her head to the side a bit.

"French is am interesting language," Gale said smearing the plate with ketchup with his last french fry. "I tried to learn it, but learning English was hard enough,". He laughed and shook his head when she asked about Russia. "Nah, not always cold. But it might as well be." He teased.

Payton laughed lightly, "Yeah English can be hard, so many rules to the English language too." she said smiling. She nodded her head slightly, "I think it would be cool to visit there one day. Do you miss it?" she asked him.

"Yeah, all the rules kind of got jumbled in my head a little in the beginning," Gale said remembering when his real parents had taught him some English before his school started to.
Gale looked down at his plate, he could feel several pair of eyes on him and he wondered if they were able to hear or if they ever placed bugs near him at all. "I do miss it, a lot actually." He admitted though he didn't add he could never go back.

"I don't blame you. I would miss my home too if I had to move so far away, yet alone another country." Payton said as she looked at the time. "Do you want to go somewhere else to chat? It is a nice day out we could sit outside." she said knowing they were both done with their food so what was the sense of staying here.

Gale looked out the windows of the cafeteria and nodded. "Though I feel like I have distracted you from your work, are you sure you want to continue this distraction?" He said laughing "I mean, I don't want you to fail on my account." He added teasingly as he placed the trash he had created onto his tray.

"Oh no you didn't." Payton said with a small laugh. "I just like to get ahead in class, I've never failed a test in my life let alone get below a ninety on a test quiz or anything so I think I'm good." She told him as she got up gathering her things. "Plus it's beautiful outside, fresh air won't hurt us." She told him as she walked over throwing out her trash.

"Oh, overachiever?" Gale teased knowing he was the one guy who had good grades but waited till the last minute to do the work. "Wow," He said raising both eyebrows. "Impressive," He added looking like he just saw the Holy Grail in real life. "It is beautiful and I enjoy being outside more than anything." He added standing up and following her over to the trash can.
