It was a Friday afternoon, it was raining out most of the kids were excited to get out of class which meant parties galore for the weekend. Payton wasn't into that, she was more worried about the three projects including one paper that she had to get to before the due dates. Yes, Payton was a nerd big time but she didn't care she loved school and she wanted to get somewhere in life. She could always party later right? When her career was stable and such that's what she always told herself which deep down she knew it wouldn't happen. She sat down at a table towards the back of the library, it was excluding from everything else, the section where most of the kids who got tutored sat around here so they could be a little bit louder than anywhere else in the library and it would be easier to concentrate. Setting down her books looking at the name of the guy she would be tutoring. It was the kid in two of her classes, history, and science, since she excelled in school she was able to take classes that were offered to the older students. She was somewhat familiar of who he was, she felt he would be kind of lazy as most of the students she tutored were. Payton sorted through the papers making sure she had everything as she waited for Chase to arrive, on time she hoped.

He was only ten minutes late-scratch that, twenty-to this dumb tutoring thing he had been forced into as a graduation requirement. All the adults at this dumb school seemed to think he wasn't capable of passing his classes on his own, and has assigned some dumb (or not so, as the case may be) girl to try and coach him through a couple of classes. It wasn't that Chase was dumb exactly, he just refused to apply himself, which reasonably led everyone to believe that he was little more than a pretty face and great lineman.
He'd tried his best to blow it off, but his counselor had threatened to withhold not only his diploma, (which he could care less about), but also his sports privileges. So no football. No baseball. No wrestling. Nothing. That was a low blow, Chase had thought. They knew what he lived for, and if they took it away he'd have nothing left to keep him on track. With his future happiness dangling it like a carrot in front of a very stubborn jackass, Chase decided it was best just to get it over with. Maybe they'd forget about it after a couple times, y'know?
So now he was making his way to the library, grumbling under his breath every couple steps about how dUMB this was going to be. She'd probably be some ugly chick with hella thick glasses and no tits or something. Ugh. He reached the door to the prison-I mean, library, and pulled it open, looking for the girl. He didn't see anyone matching his mental picture of a 'tutor', but his eyes did graze over a pretty blonde sitting alone in the back. Shit, if his tutor wasn't gonna make it, at least he could enjoy himself. He passed a group of nerds playing one of those weird card games with dragons on them, and approached her.
"Hey, um, I'm looking for some chick named Payton?" He asked half-heartedly, hoping she wouldn't point him in the right direction so he'd have a reason to sit down and stare for a while longer.

Now she was getting annoyed, not only was he late but twenty minutes to be exact, she only had an hour with him and twenty minutes was gone. Frustrated she let out a long sigh as she stared out the window watching the rain fall as she waited. Hearing a guys voice speak to her turning to find Chase the boy she was tutoring standing before her. She couldn't help but turn red a bit embarrassed not knowing he was this good looking this close up. Shaking her head ridding the thought, "Well it's about time you showed up." she said pointing to the seat across from her. "I only have you for an hour before I see someone else and you wasted twenty minutes of my time." she told him. Ugh, why did he have to be cute? It would just make it harder for her to be mad at him. I mean look at him!? Great. "Since you're late I guess we will just focus on history since we have a test Tuesday." she said putting aside the science notes and pulled the history notes to the middle of the table waiting for him so they could start.

Chase closed his eyes for a brief moment, sighing at himself before opening them and tilting his head as he laughed. "Oh shit. Of course. You're Payton." This would happen to him. Jesus Christ. She was the exact opposite of what he'd been expecting. How did they expect him to learn anything when his tutor looked like this? Maybe that was the plan; find the hottest, smartest girl in school and pair her up with him, and maybe he'd stick around. He was certainly considering it now, anyway.
"Well, sorry I'm late, babe. I got caught up with something." That was a lie. He'd simply taken his sweet time getting to the library, knowing the time slot that had been allotted for this tutoring thing. He ignored her gesture and plopped down into a seat next to her, leaning onto his elbow and pretending to look interested. That's a bit of a lie, actually. He was interested, just not in history.
"You don't have to waste your breath, you know. I can do this shit on my own." He hadn't even bothered to bring his backpack, so there wasn't really a point to trying and getting him to 'take notes' or whatever she had planned. Besides, there were much more fun things to do on a Friday afternoon than discussing what would be on the upcoming test. "Why don't we talk about something more interesting, mm?" He suggested lazily, batting his eyelashes at her superfluously.

Payton rolled her eyes as he spoke, "Typical lame excuse. Hope you come up with better ones if you show up late again. If there is going to be another time." she said to him. Babe? Really? Sure she hasn't been called that in a while, especially by a cute guy but that's what he wanted to do distract her. She didn't need any distractions, not now. Of course he would sit next to her and not across from her like she pointed to where he should sit. She would have to say he did smell very good, she just hoped she wouldn't blush again showing that he was actually making progress with her. "If you can do this shit on your own, go ahead and answer these questions. If you get them all correct then maybe I'll consider talking about something more interesting. Like maybe Newton's Law for our physics class." she said moving the paper and pen towards him her eyes rolling again slightly as she looked down.

"Will do," He winked, drawing his lips out into a thin smirk. If there was a next time, he mused, he definitely wouldn't be late. Fuck, for the first time in his life, Chase might actually be early. Maybe she wasn't warming up to him as quickly as he'd have liked, but if they were going to spend more time together, Chase figured he had a while to butter the pretty blonde up.
He stared at the paper she'd pushed toward him, his smug smile fading as he glanced up to her with a 'are you fucking serious?' look plastered all over his face. He gave a reluctant huff and trained his attention back to the paper. Aiight. Well, if this is how to get in her good graces, he could answer some simple questions about-wait, did they learn this shit already? He straightened up, turning to Payton.
"This is stupid. We haven't even done this stuff in class."

Working on some of her own homework as she waited for him only for him to break her concentration. "Are you serious Chase?" she asked turning to him raising a brow. "We just learned this two days ago, and it's going to be on our test on Tuesday!" she said shaking her head as she looked at the first question. "The first one is easy, all of them are! It's all about the government, how many beaches name them, what are the official roles of the president and so on." she said letting out a small sigh. "Do you really know this or no? I'm here to help you, but I can't help you if you're not being truthful to me Chase." she told him really wanting to help him, she wanted to see him do well on this up coming test, she knew he could do it if he just tried.

"I wasn't there two days ago," He shrugged. It wasn't out of place for Chase to skip class, especially history. He didn't like the class or people, and the teacher had started breaking up his friend group, so when he actually did go, Chase was forced to sit up front. Gross, right? Totally not worth showing up for. Payton was babying him, and at that, he groaned and looked back to the page. The questions seemed familiar, but nothing was jumping out at him enough for him to answer confidently. "Psh, I know this stuff-I mean, I don't know this one," He said, pointing to the first question, rolling his eyes, nonchalantly. "But that's just...one of them."

"Alright, but still these aren't hard at all." Payton said looking at the first question. "Okay, first question...What are the two types of powers given to the Legislative Branch found in the constitution? A. Expressed powers, B. Inherent powers, C. Implied powers, D. Both a and c." she said looking to him giving him a small smile, knowing the answer was D. Both a and c, usually questions like that it was more than one of them so you chose the one where it has two correct answers, because that's what it usually is. She looked over grabbing a sheet of paper where it had the three branches and what their powers were. "So look at Legislative Brach and see what powers it has." she said pointing to the notes.

Chase let out a low whistle before nodding like he'd followed what she was saying. As soon as she'd opened her mouth, however, it was like she'd started speaking in a foreign language. He looked at the paper, trying not to seem like he was actually searching for the answer. Because he wasn't, of course. He was just playing along. Aha. He knew this shit. "Uhhhhh-" He dragged out the sound, buying himself a few more seconds as he scanned the paper. She was right, he thought as he confirmed his answer. This was easy. Maybe he'd try actually doing his homework every once in a while if it was all this simple. "D, right?" He looked back up to her with an uncertain smile.

Payton smiled when he said the correct answer, "That's right. See not so bad." she said moving her chair closer. "Alright so we can do this page together, I'll let you look at the notes, but for the test you can't use your notes." she said tapping her fingers on the table in thought. "I wouldn't mind studying with you on Monday night before the test. It's really all memorizing." she said looking down at the paper. "I'm not saying we should studying together, it's up to you weather or not you want to be kicked off the football team." she added raising a brow hoping he would take her up on that offer.

Chase rolled his eyes again, clicking his tongue. "Yeah yeah, whatever." It wasn't as hard as he'd imagined it to be, but then again nothing today was fitting into 'what he thought it might be'. He shifted his gaze from the paper to Payton, watching her lips as she spoke. He lifted a brow at her proposition. It probably was best if he accepted her offer, seeing as he needed all the help he could get. And seeing how she was actually getting him to concentrate on the material sometimes, which was a miracle all in itself.
"Yeah, I'm free Monday night," Chase replied, adopting a dimple-bearing grin. Another study session? So soon. "It's a date," He added cheekily, bumping shoulders.

"It's not a date..." Payton said feeling herself blush a bit, oh wow that was annoying how it just happened when she didn't want it to. "We are studying that's it." she said clearing her throat trying not to look at him, she would just get distracted again. "Don't give me that cheeky smile of yours, you still have nine more questions to answer. Lucky you they are all multiple choice." she told him giving him a small smile. "Try and do the other ones yourself...and really try. Use the notes if you have to." she said as she ran a hand through her hair looking at her own work that had to be done as well.

"A study date," He teased further, loving the streak of pink that appeared at her cheeks in response. God, she was cute. "It'll be fun, Payton," If it came down to hanging around her for a bit longer or getting kicked off the team, he'd gladly jump at the chance to be around her. And maybe he'd be able to get her away from 'studying', which was already beginning to bore him. He sat back a bit, looking completely flabbergasted. "Cheeky smile? Me? I-I don't know what you're talking about." Chase feigned sounding hurt by the accusation, barely holding back his grin long enough to get the sentence out. He took the paper up anyway and blew out a sharp breath, sagging his shoulders dramatically. "If I get this done, how about we blow this joint and I take you out for ice cream,"

"Yeah it will be fun because we will be studying, I happen to like studying." Payton told him laughing as she looked at him shaking her head, "Sure you don't." she said smiling as he took the paper hearing about his offer. "Hmmm, well I do love ice cream, so if you finish this and get most of the questions right. We can go, but you have to try really hard." she told him smiling. "But not too hard to where you hurt your brain." she teased standing up. "I'll leave you to it, I'll be back I need to go check out a book." she said before walking off to leave him with that while she looked for a few books she needed for her projects.

He stared at her hard, trying to determine whether she was serious or not. Could someone actually like to study? Chase had begin to grin as though he'd won something, but at her comment his smile vanished. He hardly had time to get out a disgruntled 'Hey!' before she left him alone to the hideousness that was history. Hurt his brain. Pshh. He'd show her. He could do this shit in his sleep. And get the girl and a double scoop of triple fudge. He worked quickly at the worksheet; like she'd mentioned about a hundred thousand billion times, it wasn't hard. He just had an incentive, for once.

It was only about five minutes, maybe a little bit more when she got all her books and checked them out. Looking at the time seeing that their tutor time was pretty much over anyway, since he showed up late. Putting her phone in he back pocket Payton walked back over to him placing the books down looking at his paper. "Oh look you're done, let me see weather or not we go out for ice cream or not." she said taking his paper reading over the questions, and his answers...the were all correct. "Huh...um well it seems like all of these are correct." she said looking from him to the paper again. "See now, if only you tried this hard during the actual test you'll do great." she said smiling gathering the papers giving them to him. "I guess I have to bribe you to let you take me out on dates for you to do well." she teased giggling. "Keep those so you can use them to study on Monday night. Got it?" she said raising a brow to him waiting for his response.

She was back before he knew it, and he'd only just circled the last answer as she reappeared and took back the paper. He couldn't keep the cocky smile from slipping back onto his face as she looked over the paper, soaking up her smile. He ran a hand through his hair, looking as smug as ever. "Yeah yeah, I told you." He took the paper and folded it in half, shoving it into his back pocket carelessly. "I got this shit. Now let's get out of here, if we spend any more time in here, I'm afraid I'll end up like them," He gestured over his shoulder to the group still playing cards. It was a valid fear, aiight. Plus he really just wanted to put as much space between him and academics as he could for the weekend, and close the space between him and Payton. (ow oW cheeky little fuck)

"Yeah yeah, well why can't you do this more often huh?" Payton asked watching him fold up the paper and put it in his back pocket. She let out a small sigh shaking her head slightly looking over to the guys playing cards. "Oh? You're afraid you'll actually be sweet and nice and do well in school? Shocker." she said picking up her things and started to walk to the door. She would have to go back to her dorm room to put all her stuff down before they went anywhere else. She looked over her shoulder looking back to him waiting for him to catch up.

Chase shrugged; if he'd actually applied himself, he wouldn't have been stuck with this totally hot babe. Of course, his whole academic career wouldn't be in jeopardy, but that was besides the point. Wait-did she really refer to those nerds as sweet? He let his mouth drop open in surprise. "I'm afraid of becoming a Level 239 Dungeon Master, and not having any time to take pretty girls out on dates," He finished with a flare of flirtatiousness. She'd already taken off without him, but it only took several long strides to put himself comfortably half a step behind her.
