"Parenting assignment," Aaron read out loud as his fellow classmates began to file in around him. 'Who thinks of these things,' he thought as he sat up straighter in his desk as the teacher walked in.
The teacher explained the rules and everything that was on the sheet in front of them and then began calling out the pairs. "Aaron Deller and Dixie Lambert"
Aaron raised his hand and waited to see who was his partner.

Dixie raised her hamd. Why did she have to be in this class? She had a daughter for crying out loud. she knew how to care for a baby. She raised up amd wemt to get the baby and diaper bag. She walked over to Aaron. "this will be easy. Lucky you I have a kid and know what all to do. So these two weeks should go by fast" she said to him.
She ran a hand through her hair. "so how do you want to deal with this?" she asked looking at Aaron. "We could split it up or whatever" she said

Aaron was shocked by up front she was about all this, let alone that she already had a kid. "Okay I will take the easy A," He said with a smile. "Uh, we could split it up. Like you take one week and I take the other? Or were you thinking another way?" He asked thinking he might be able to take care of a fake baby for a week.

"no you are going to have to work with me. We could like each keep it every other night" she said to him. she looked at him. "this won't be easy" she said to him. "its going to be tough. You have no idea how to raise a kid do you?" she asked looking at him.

Aaron furrowed his eyebrow, wondering if this girl had a sense of humor or was she just really serious about this assignment. "That will work too," He said wishing it had been a girl he had already met. "No, I don't." He said wanting to say something more but his mother's voice entered his head to be nice and so he kept his mouth shut.

Dixie looked at him. "I'm serious" she said ro him. "You have to learn how to do this or you won't pass the assifnment" she said to him. "takkng care of a baby is nothing to play with" she said

Aaron had the sick feeling that this chick was going to make him hate having kids and even dislike her. "Alright, so is our child a girl or a boy?" He asked wondering if they were going to argue about the name, he figured he could just let her name it and forget the arguing all together.

"Boy" Dixie said. "Name it" she said looking at him. She leaned on the wall. "Just pick a name I don't care" she said to him. She leaned back on a wall looking at him.

"Name it? You mean name him," Aaron said in a girly voice as he took the baby and started rocking it. "How about..." he began to said as he thought. He couldn't believe she was letting him pick the name, so now he wanted it to be perfect. "How about William, Will for short." He said, really liking the name.

"Okay name him" She said with a small smile. "William. I like it" she said."Do you like it William?"she asked leaning over at the baby smiling like an idiot. "So now what?" she asked looking at him. she though of her own little girl who she missed dearly even though it had been just a few days since she had seen Grace.

"Uh, I think we have to turn him on," Aaron said pointing to the teacher who was turning on another pairs baby. Aaron flipped the baby over onto its belly and lifted the shirt to show an on and off switch, to which he switched to on. The baby started crying immediately. "Oh man," He said immediately putting the baby back on his back and rocking it, at least he hoped he was doing something to quiet the baby down.

Dixie watched him amused at what he was doing. She didn't try to correct him either. "pat gently" she said. She grinned as he rocked the baby and the baby's cry went to soft wimpers. "good" she said with a smile. "so we get to play house for two weeks. We need to know how this baby thing is going to work" she said

Aaron smiled softly and wondered if this was how his parents felt holding him. He took her advice seeing as she had a real life kid and the baby began to quiet down till he was sure he was asleep. "Aww, little Will." He cooed in a joking voice, causing a few people to giggle through out the room. "What else do we need to figure out?" He asked, seriously paying attention to Dixie now.

"Well where the baby will sleep. We have the carrier so I guess it can sleep in that or if I keep it or if you do he could sleep in the bed with us. Then there is the thing that we have classes and have to carry it around. "so what periods are you serious classes like math, science, english, and history if you have them classes?"she asked

Aaron thought about the baby sleeping in the bed with him and was worried he would roll over and smother it. "I think the carrier would be better for me, I tend to move a lot during the night," Which wasn't a lie at all, he always woke up in a different position than what he had gone to bed in. He let out a giant sigh "Teachers will have to understand during class since this was their idea in a way. "Uh, all those are serious, but honestly I can take care of the baby during them if you are worried." he added.

Dixie nieces. "Okay the carrier it is." she said. "No I was just wanting to know because if we have them different periods we can take the baby when the other doesn't have a serious class" Dixie said. She nodded.

Aaron nodded and wrote down his schedule for her "This is when I have my classes, I don't start till late, so if you have any morning classes I could take care of him." He said still holding the quiet baby.

"Okay" Dixie seized. "Mine are in the morning. I have one at three then I work from six to nine every day besides weekends" Dixie ssid to him. "so you would have him from six to nine but id keep him all day saturdsy id you wanted to go out or something" she said

"Okay so I'll watch him in the morning, you take him till two-thirty and then do you just want me to keep him from then till nine on your nights?" Aaron asked wondering what kind of job she would have so late, he guessed it could have been a fast food restaurant. "And if you are okay with taking Saturdays, I don't get out much," He admitted.

"Neither do I. I can keep him after 12. till three. Then you have him till I get coff work and then I'll pick him up on the nights I have him." she said. "god I don't even get to see my daughter this much. "Why csnt we just have a real life one year old here insted of the baby?" she asked. "All I do on the weekends is go see Grace my daughter" Dixie said.
