Only have been in California for a few days, so far everything sucked. Sending Yulia away from snowy Moscow apparently wasn't the answer. She had to force herself to get used to the food at the cafeteria. Everything she tried tasted like sautéed cardboard. She never had a hot dog and even she knew it wasn't supposed to taste like that.
Disgusted, she tossed the wiener out, wondering 'Is everyone a vegan here?'
It looked like she's have to leave campus for decent food... Again.
Opening her new MacBook, she checked to see if her father messaged her to see he didn't. That was probably a good thing.
She looked around and saw everyone in groups enjoying themselves and probably talking about her. She listened whilst pretending to watch a video.

Catalina stretched her arms tiredly as the burning water of her shower rapidly beat against her shoulders. Morning workouts and dance weren't her forte, though it had to happen. Ever since she came to California, her top priority was to make sure to keep her grades up as high as possible while keeping up with everything else. It was a struggle to balance it all, though it was what her parents expected of her. So, she would just have to try, for her parents sake. She slipped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around her chest. The dorm bathrooms were small, although they were a lot nicer than she expected when she came here. A lot nicer than a college bathroom would probably ever be.
It took her at least half an hour to blow dry her hair and put on a light amount of makeup. She was dressed in something comfortable for the time being, since she had no reason to look fancy that day. Although she wanted to make friends at Tidewater, she wanted to be herself. That would be a challenge, since when people there were teenagers, they were all bitches. Oh well. She promised herself she'd look good on her first day of classes.
She slipped out of her room and dormitory before making her way to the humid courtyard. It was the pathway between the girl's and guy's dormitories, which wasn't a good idea. Had the architects who made the school been smart, they would've known it would be idiotic to put those two close together. Who knew what kind of disgusting things happened since the girls or guys could easily sneak into the other gender's dormitory.
Her eyes fell onto some girl on her laptop, who was luckily alone. That was a relief. She felt like everyone at this school was in a clique, and could never find a person by themselves. This was a shock to her. Maybe she should go talk to her and make friends? That would be great, since she really just wanted some friends. That would be amazing. She walked up to the girl slowly, offering a smile, "Whatcha watching?"

"Syn suka!" (Son of a bitch!) Yulia closed the laptop and snapped her head. Then she sighed in releif. "Oh, sorry. You scared me."

Catalina raised an eyebrow when the girl said something in another language, wondering what rude thing it could possibly be. "Um, it's okay I guess," she said with a small shrug, offering a little smile. She had noticed her accent, wondering if she was new from Russia, or if she was just imitating one. Though, why would anybody mimic a Russian accent for no reason? "Are you from Russia?" she asked, smiling.

"I'm from Moscow." Yulia told her proudly, checking her hair to make sure her scar was still covered.

Mocow, the home of the Red Square, venue of the Infamous Red Square Riot. Just months ago, there was a big fight on the streets over this drug that half the city was addicted to. These people literally strangled and shot each other just to pay their housing loans for one pill.
Maybe this Russian doll was there.

Catalina nodded, "Moscow? Wow! How is it there?" she asked curiously, her accent obvious. The weird thing about her accent was that people always asked her if she was British. She clearly wasn't, but apparently to these Americans, South African and British accents sounded similar.

"It's cold most of the year and very crowded. I'm Yulia."
