Whitney walked out of the schools office, all the paperwork of a new school in hand. She looked down at her class scheduled and frowned. None of the classes interested her as she headed towards the dorms, unsure what her parents were thinking, sending her to a new school in the middle of the year.
Whitney took a deep breath and let it out slowly, she knew better than to look at this new adventure like a scared little kid. She instantly thought of Haylie and instantly regretted that decision.

Matthew walked out of the building that held the dorms, his tux in hand. He had been running around like a chicken with his head cut off for the past two days in order to try and get everything right for this stupid dance. Last thing he needed to do was get his suit tailored-- apparently he had lost a descent bit of weight since the last time he wore it, and it just wasn't looking right. He was just happy that he didn't experience another awkward growth spurt that would require him to buy a whole new suit. If it weren't for the fact that he managed to actually catch himself a date, he wouldn't even be bothering himself to go. He wasn't the best dancer, and dances in general were just plain awkward. A part of him didn't even know why he was going through all this trouble getting ready for the dance, since he barely even knew the girl he was going with.
As he walked out of the door, he got into a near collision with a girl heading into the building. "I'm so sorry!" he said to the girl, a tad bit flustered. Considering that the girl was holding a class schedule, by the looks of it, she was probably just as lost as he felt.

Whitney wasn't paying attention to the world around, her mind racing a mile a minute when suddenly it stopped with a crash. She stumbled backwards a few steps, letting out weird grunts as she finally landed on her butt which caused her to let out a gasp. Her papers fell all around her as she looked up to see who she had crashed into and started to apologize. "No I am so sorry. I wasn't paying attention And.... And..." She continued to say though she suddenly lost her train of thought, typical Whitney style.

"Oh crap!" Matt said, leaning over with his hand out to help her up. "I'm so sorry," he said, his brows furrowing together. He felt like complete and utter crap for bumping into her. She seemed a tad bit lost already, and he was sure the last thing she needed was some idiot to knock her over. "So, I'm guessing you're new?" he asked, trying to work up a little smile for her. Considering that the papers strung out all over the ground were registration papers and information about her classes.

Whitney quickly grabbed all her papers, afraid they would fly away. She took this sidetrack to avoid the guys question, trying to find a good answer, though there was only one. The truth. "Yes, I am new here. Hard to tell right?" She joked as she tried to make her papers all line up and was failing. "Do you know where the girls dorm is?" She asked knowing it was in this general direction.

Matt bent over in an attempt to help her straighten out her paperwork, throwing his suit over his shoulder so that he would have both hands free. "Yeah, would have never guessed," he said with a little chuckle, noticing how flustered she seemed to be. Clearly she wasn't really dealing well with the whole 'new school' thing. He understood that it took some getting used to, especially since it was a boarding school versus your average public school. Most kids didn't take well to the whole 'no going home to your family and friends' situation. "Yeah, the girl's dorms are in the building that I just excited out of before bull-dozing you over. Girls are on the second floor, boys on the first."

Whitney watched as he helped her, noticing the suit he flung over his shoulders and wondered what he needed it for. She smiled and chuckled a little herself trying to feel the emptiness she thought she could feel. She turned and looked at the dorms and blinked a few times. "So, we stay in the same building?" She asked wondering how that was accomplished without any sexual issues happening.

Matt nodded with a little smile. "Yeah. Awkward, huh? I really don't think they thought the whole thing through. There are hall monitors, though, that make sure that different genders aren't going around into the opposite genders' rooms," he said, though that still didn't seem to work. People were always hoping in and out of each other's rooms at their own will. He wasn't really one of those guys, though, so it didn't matter either way to him. "Did you need help with anything else? I kind of need a distraction from this whole homecoming dance, thing," he said with a little chuckle. He would have loved to take a break from his worrying, even if it meant he was going to be giving someone a tour of the school.

Whitney slowly nodded her head understanding, she only hoped her roommate wasn't a whore and that she wouldn't find a sock on the doorknob anytime soon. "Sounds like someones great planning," She sighed wondering if her parents knew this. "Oh, so that explains the suit," She said with a smirk. "Do you not care for the girl your going with? Or is it the whole dance thing you don't like?" She asked waving her hands around in odd motions, she added another smirk and held back a giggle, feeling that was too girlish to do around a good looking guy.

"Yeah....I have no clue what they were thinking," Matt said with a little shrug, almost considering dropping his suit off later. Or asking one of his friends to drop it off for him since he already had his measurements down. "I don't really know the girl I'm going with. We met in class, and she seems like a pretty cool girl, but I've heard a lot of things about her that honestly makes me uncomfortable," He said, his face scrunching up a bit. He was one of few guys that actually didn't want a slut as a date, considering that he wasn't really the sexual type himself. Matt was an odd one. "And I'm not a big fan of dances. I mean, I like being able to dance with a girl and enjoy her company, but dances can be so damn awkward. Especially high school dances, since most girls go off and gossip with their friends and leave their dates standing off to the side."

Whitney shifted her weight from one foot to the other, listening to the guy speak when she realized she didn't know his name. "Yeah, I've never been a fan of high school dances either. Unless I go stag with my friends," She said but her voice dropped at the end of the sentence as Haylie's face flashed in her mind. "I mean, wants the point of being told you can't dance with your hips, or have all the genders stand on one side of the room watching the other the whole time." She added quickly trying to cover herself. "By the way, my name is Whitney." She said with a bright smile.
