Ciera left the girls dorm quietly, heading out to the main court yard where a water fountain was, a place where students went and tossed coins in the water as they made wishes. Ciera looked around, feeling a little silly as she pulled a penny from her pocket and turning her back to the fountain, closing her eyes as she made a wish, tossing the penny and not turning around until she heard the plop of the coin as it landed in the water.
She ran a hand through her waist length blond hair and sat on the edge of the fountains wall, looking down at the water, trying to ignore her reflection. A day had passed since her failed date with the jock named Grant, after ending the night by giving him a black eyes, but had walked away with bruises of her own, bruises hidden by her form fitting, long sleeved sweater and her skinny jeans with sparkly black pockets. She sighed softly, looking down at her flip flops and wiggling her toes. It was about time for her to re-paint them, but she didn't feel up to it, not after everything that had happened lately.

The air around him was only filled with the sound of the fountain, his hand scribbling over the blank page and the chirping of a few birds nearby. He was in the zone, concentrating on the main campus building when a new sound interrupted his concentration, one that wasn't part of the normal sound running already through his mind. A "plop" of some kind, he could only determine it had come from the fountain as he already knew people threw coins into the fountain for luck.
He turned to see who was hoping for whatever wish the shooting star didn't grant them and paused. He hadn't been at the school long, but he wasn't one to forget faces and this one he had never seen before. As she sat down on the edge, he hoped she would sit for just five minutes as he flipped to a new page and began a new sketch of the fountain and the mysterious girl with a sad look on her face.

Ciera didn't notice as a boy started to sketch her, instead she continued looking at her feet, like they were the most interesting things in the world. Her hair fell over her shoulder in soft waves, the light of the sun making it seem to glow a soft yellow that almost seemed like the color of wheat when it was back lit from the sun. She tugged her sleeves down over her wrists, curling her fingers into the soft fabric.

Aaron started sketching quickly, feeling like at any moment she would stand up and leave him with an unfinished sketch. He started mumbling to himself out loud, not realizing this as his eyes darted from the fountain, the girl, to his sketch pad. His mumbling got louder as he wished he had his colored pencils to ad more depth to this sketch.

Ciera frowned slightly when she heard strange mumblings, careful to move her eyes and not her head, blinking in surprise when she saw a boy looking from her to his sketch bad, his hand gliding across the page. She tilted her head ever so slightly, was he sketching her? He had to be, but she didn't want to make any assumptions. Instead of saying anything she looked down, remaining quiet and careful not to move, she could manage to stay still for him for a little while, she had nothing better to do.

Time flew by according to Aaron, the minutes felt like seconds. He couldn't remember when he finally realized he was done and it had been an hour and a half when he started to sketch the girl, whats more is he couldn't realize she had stayed sitting there for that long without moving an inch. He lowered his sketch pad, satisfied even without color that it was good enough to sign and looked up at the girl, wondering if she had noticed at all or if her mind was so preoccupied with the wish she had made earlier.

When he fully looked at her, Ciera looked back at him, smiling a bit shyly. "Did I stay still enough for you?" she asked kindly. She stood and stretched, her back popping softly and she let out a sigh. Sitting still hadn't been too bad, though it had make her legs cramp up a little.

Aaron was taken back, he wasn't expecting her to speak at all let alone to him. He assumed she would call him a jerk or a pervert even though he felt he wasn't. He stood up quickly and smiled shyly, he wasn't the best at talking with people, girls in particular. "Uh, yes you did. I didn't realize how long you had been sitting there. I am sorry if you thought you had to sit for me." He said quickly flipping the pages so she wouldn't see the drawing. He was suddenly embarrassed, blushing deeply as he hoped she didn't notice.

Ciera's gaze softened when she noticed his bludsh, she honestly thought it was adorable. "It's no problem, I had nothing else to do, and I promise not to pry and look at the picture, I understand how people can get personal about their art work." as she spoke she walked over to him slowly and held out her hand. "I'm Ciera, and you are?"

Aaron smiled more confidently more this time as she understood artists and their pictures, though now he felt it was necessary to show her the picture. "Yeah, I don't really draw people or moving objects, I am more into architecture then anything," He said feeling like he was rambling on. When she held out her hand he hesitated but took her hand in his firmly and gave it a good shake. "Aaron, I just got here a few days ago." He said knowing he didn't have to add that little tidbit, but again he was rambling.

Ciera shook his hand and smiled, "That's cool, where are you from? I've gone here since freshman year." she liked how he started to get more confident, making her feel happier. At least there was one nice guy around this school. "I like architecture too, but II'm better at drawing people than buildings-though I'm not that good at drawing in general." she said, starting blush.

"I'm originally from Alabama, but I've moved around a lot," Aaron said starting to feel awkward. His father being in the military meant he could move at any second, though the shortest time they ever stayed somewhere was six months. "My dad is in the Army so, I've been on both coasts and in the middle of this great country," He tried to joke. "So do you draw just for fun?" He asked excited that someone else could be an artist on campus.

Ciera nodded curiously then smiled bashfully when he asked about her art skills. "Yeah, whenever I get in the mood I draw a while bunch, I have a lot of sketch books everywhere in my room, I also love to water color paint."

"Wow, normally I don't find artists in the first week at school, let alone one that was Emo, or crazy," Aaron said jokingly adding "You aren't crazy are you?" He asked, his eyes squinting and his lips curved into a questionings smile. "I'm kidding, but honestly it's awesome." He said knowing she didn't know how much it really did mean to him.

ciera laughed softly and shook her hed "i'm not crazy, but therebae some students tht i think are....i havent really met any other artists either, but then ahain i dont think im an artist either. i just draw for fun."

Aaron shrugged "That's how I started out as an artist, just for fun," He said. In his mind he flashed back to the moment an artist teacher told him he should try harder things, take actual art classes for talent. "But you never know where it will take you," He said with a small smile. "Anyways, I hope you didn't waste your time sitting for me." He said though he was thinking he wouldn't mind if she sat for him again.

"Well, it was good practice for me," Aaron said, not sure where to go from here. "Were.. You wishing for something specific?" He asked after a few seconds of silenced had past between them.

Ciera tugged at a strand of her hair, thinking back to her wish. "Yeah, it was specific, but I don't think it will come true." she sighed softly and sat back down on the fountain wall, looking up at the sky.

Aaron shrugged "You never know, miracles work in strange ways," He said taken back by his own words. He started sounding like his mom. "Anyways," he said switching weight from one foot to the other trying to figure the next words to say. "Since I haven't been here long, would you mind telling me what kids do for fun around here?" He asked, this was sadly the only thing he could think of off the fly.
